As part of the Mecenat activities of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of MS&AD Insurance Group Holdings, Inc.), Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Cultural Foundation launched its “Concerts for local residents” program in 1990. Since then, the program has held over 1,000 classical concerts nationwide. This initiative aims to provide more than just financial support. The program is jointly organized by the Foundation, along with local governments at the prefectural and municipal levels. Foundation staff accompany the concerts and share their expertise to establish a sustainable business model that enables smooth operations, even at venues with no prior concert experience. Starting in fiscal year 2023, the Foundation launched a volunteer initiative for concert operations, providing Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company employees with opportunities to participate more proactively in Mecenat activities. While employees had previously attended concerts as audience members, directly engaging in venue operations, such as reception duties and promoting audience etiquette, allowed them to witness the genuine joy that local residents experienced at the concerts firsthand. This heightened their awareness of Mecenat activities and helped to strengthen their presence and involvement within the company.
