Japan Mécénat Awards
Honoring Corporations and Corporate Foundations for Outstanding Arts Support

Kigyo Mécénat Kyogikai (KMK: Association for Corporate Support of the Arts, Japan) has held Japan Mécénat Awards since 1991.

The Japan Mécénat Awards are presented annually by KMK to corporations and corporate foundations whose support for the arts has significantly contributed to Japanese culture and society. The awards are designed to recognize and encourage the partnerships which corporations and corporate foundations have formed with the arts.

Categories and Qualification Requirements of Japan Mécénat Awards


[Category of the Japan Mécénat Awards]
  • Category A:
    Mécénat Grand Prize
    Recognizes mécénat activities making significant contributions to the promotion of arts and culture.

    The corporation or corporate foundation responsible for the most highly evaluated activity is presented with the Grand Mécénat Award. Other winners receive awards whose names reflect their most valued contribution.

  • Category B:
    Award Granted by the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs
    (Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Award)

    Recognizes mécénat activities making significant contributions to the promotion of arts and culture, the revitalization of local communities, and fostering next generation.

With the concept of “revitalizing Japanese society through culture,” Agency for Cultural Affairs is carrying out many types of activities to increase the “Power of Culture,” and created the ACA Director-General Award for last year’s Japan Mécénat Awards. The first year entries were accepted in the ACA Director-General Award category in 2004.



[Qualification Requirements]

All mécénat activities that were conducted within the previous fiscal year, by corporations or corporate foundations that are based in Japan were eligible.
Applicants were allowed to apply directly or by recommendation.
